Expensive gear doesn’t make you a better photographer. You can do a lot with almost any camera. See my Shot on iPhone post here!
But with that said, the right camera can enhance the overall quality and output of images as well as the ease in which you obtain those images. An example would be for weddings photographers. Operation speed and reliability are important in those quick one time moments. And then there are lenses, which in my opinion, might even be more important than the camera itself. Good glass never gets old.
